Life Skills Program
Teaching children life skills in order to build confidence and strengthen independence is an important stage of childhood development. One area of consideration when parenting children especially orphans and underprivileged children, is teaching them life skills so that they will be able to take care of themselves and be as independent as they possibly can. The lack of training in life skills can increase the risk of children developing poor self-esteem, rejection, fear, insecurity, resentment, bitterness, hopelessness, and helplessness.
In an effort to help children reach their full potential, ACOHOF has designed a Life Skills Program for school children. This program focuses among others on Self-Esteem, Basic Hygiene and Sanitation, Sex Education, citizenship, and moral lessons. The purpose of this program is to teach our children not only how to survive and prosper during those critical years to adulthood, but to come out victorious and become role models among their peers. The Life Skills Program will empower them toward making the right choices early on, and away from economic dependency later in their lives. It will build a shield of positive self-esteem, self-respect, and self-reliance, against crime, drugs, promiscuity, etc. resulting in increased numbers of physical and emotionally healthy children; with improved academic performance, better accepted by their peers and adults, and becoming future positive role models.
