ACOHOF COVID-19 Prevention Program

ACOHOF says no to the Coronavirus

The world, individuals and organizations have been doing everything to sensitize the public about the deadly virus Covid-19, a strategy in which Afoni Children of Hope Foundation, ACOHOF is not left out.

Coronavirus disease, or COVID-19, is a contagious disease first discovered in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The disease had since spread worldwide and was declared a pandemic by the WHO on 11 March 2020.

Symptoms of COVID-19 are variable but often include fever, cough, headache, fatigue, breathing difficulties, and loss of smell and taste. Symptoms may begin one to fourteen days after exposure to the virus.

So many persons have either been infected or affected by this pandemic worldwide.

My country has been the COVID-19 epicentre in western and central Africa, with the first cases detected at the Yaounde International airport in March 2020. Later it was the turn of Douala, and now it has spread to the whole country.

Many lives were lost, many lost jobs, and yet others missed travelling opportunities. Social distancing introduced as a preventive measure discouraged people from shaking hands in the usual way of African hospitality. Apart from that, most families were reluctant to welcome any visitors.

As it's little contribution, the Afoni Children of Hope Foundation joined Cameroon and the World at large to combat this deadly virus. They took extraordinary measures in and around Tatum and Bankim, organizing sensitization campaigns to educate people about the virus, how deadly it is, how it can be contracted, and how it can be prevented. As its little contribution, the Afoni Children of Hope Foundation joined Cameroon and the World at large to combat this deadly virus. Furthermore, ACOHOF observed preventive measures at the ACOHOF Family Farm School (https://www.ffs.acohof.org), which the Afoni Children of Hope Foundation promote. Consequently, they purchased and installed handwashing stations at the school premises, dormitories,  refectory, and in front of the classrooms. The handwashing station comprised a 30 litres bucket of water with a tap, soap and hand napkins. The measures were made mandatory for both staff and students who must wear the facemasks while together.

In addition, ACOHOF works with Bankim Council and Sub-Divisional Health Authorities to extend the sensitization campaign. Furthermore, ACOHOF shall donate Face masks and handwashing stations to schools, Njangi houses, and the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the North and South-West regions. Our contribution shall raise awareness in the people of Bankim and neighbouring communities.
